Grass Fed and Pasture Raised

Welcome to Pearl River Lamb and Cattle Co.

Our story begins during the summer of 2022 when James and Meredith Mitchell purchased what many Texas ranchers were forced to sell, their Dorper lambing flocks. "Due to the severe lack of grass and water brought on by the drought that plagued Central and North Texas throughout that year, we chose to be a part of preserving a way of life by bringing healthy Dorper sheep to our place in South Mississippi.  We believe that the nature of replenishing depleted flocks would make way for a sustainable operation at our ranch that will aid in rebuilding future lambing operations throughout the southern states.  In addition, as the world's food supply chain was disrupted by the 2020 pandemic,  we chose to raise the highest quality lamb for a "pasture to plate" experience that is easy to order and affordable for everyone.  Our goal is to offer lamb that is equal to or better than the lamb imported to the US from New Zealand, putting fresh lamb at the forefront of our business."

Maverick and Goose are two great Pyrenees brothers from Red Oak, Texas who are trained to protect our livestock. While they fervently protect the ranch, they are also responsible for protecting our lambs at birth by bonding and laying with them from the moment the Dorper lamb hits the ground until the ewe is able to nurse.
